Hello All,
My name is Virginia, and I am a freshman entering into St. John's College in Annapolis, MD in the fall of 2009. I've decided to blog about my St. John's experience. College blogs were something I felt helpful when I was looking at different colleges, and I couldn't find any of St. John's students. So, I decided to start one.
I've chosen to go to St. John's College in Annapolis, MD for several reasons, the foremost of which being that I really like to read. As a homeschooler of 10 years, I have read constantly, and while I have many social opportunities, I don't have many where I can talk about a text or an idea with another intelligent and rational human being. At St. John's, I know I will be provided with this opportunity which is very important to me.
The reason I have chosen to start a new blog rather than begin my narrative of St. John's College in the other blog associated with this account (http://virginiaearly.blogspot.com/) is that I want you to be able to easily pick out what has to do with St. John's and what does not. I will most likely continue to post intermittently on my other blog, and I haven't quite decided yet what the balance will be. Where should I post insights I have gained from Seminar? I don't know yet. Perhaps eventually my other blog will merge with this one. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
You'll be hearing from me in the next couple of days as I visit St. John's for the first time (yes, I sent in my deposit to a school I haven't visited yet-- not something I would recommend, but considering how much promo information I've read from St. John's, I'm 98% sure that is where I will be going) and attend seminar and Friday night lecture.
Until then,
Virginia
